"Exposing the latest in contemporary art and culture to young professionals"Seeking to demystify contemporary art for new collectors and art enthusiasts, Rodney Reid and Moran Bar-Kochva created
The Contemporaries on the campus of Harvard Business School in 2003 with a long-standing goal of exposing the latest in contemporary art and culture to young professionals.
After relocating the group to New York City in 2005,
The Contemporaries quickly grew from a small group of friends into one of the largest independent art collectives with over 600 members and over 3,500 associates.
The Contemporaries has organized over 100 art events involving the likes of the Museum of Modern Art, Christies, the Armory Show, leading galleries and artists. Encouraged by these events, many members of
The Contemporaries have not only started acquiring art, but are now asking the question, "How can I build an art collection without being a zillionaire?"
With the understanding that some young collectors are not quite ready to mortgage the house for a Warhol, yet seek to collect more than token art;
The Contemporaries launched The Contemporaries Edition as a venue for young collectors to gain access to "gallery-ready" art at entry level prices.
